Promoted by the Board of Directors of Inditex, after the approval of the Internal Code of Conduct in 2001, the model of Inditex’ Corporate Social Responsibility is articulated through the following principles:
• All Inditex operations are undertaken from an ethical and responsible point of view.
• All persons who have, directly or indirectly any employment, economic, corporate or industrial relationship with Inditex, will receive fair and honourable treatment.
• All Inditex’ activities are undertaken in the most respectful manner vis-à-vis the environment.
For the implementation of these principles, Inditex has established a strategy of global intervention based mainly on the following areas of activity:
- The strengthening of the Inditex “Production Chain” through its Compliance Programme, which includes, among other activities, the conduct of Social Audits and Follow-Ups, as well as the creation of Clusters of Suppliers in those strategic environments in which Inditex concentrates its manufacturing activities.
- The development of “mature industrial relations” through the joint and consensual solution by all the interested parties of the main breaches detected in the above-mentioned Compliance Programme.
- The harmonious solution of employment conflicts in complex social and employment environments through the instruments of dialogue contemplated in the International Framework Agreement, signed between the International Textile Garment and Leather Workers Federation and Inditex in December 2007.
- The development of an “inclusive business model” articulated through the concept of the Cluster, which makes it possible to share with the main interest groups the standards of Product Health and Safety - Clear to Wear and Safe to Wear – as a source for the generation of “competitive advantages”.
- The conduct of activities related with Community Development, through the promotion of education and learning in those areas which are afflicted by situations of inequality and conflict in which Inditex carries on activities of manufacture, distribution and/or sales.
- The conduct of Emergency Programmes designed to alleviate the negative consequences deriving from the catastrophes that occur in geographical areas that are close to those where the activities of Inditex take place.
