01
As part of our social and environmental commitment, we want to help you extend the useful life of your garments by developing a used clothes collection programme. In collaboration with local non-profit organisations, we recover garments that are no longer used and give them a second life.
02
Leave clothing you no longer use in the containers you will find in our stores. We will be responsible for getting them to the non-profit organisation that will manage the garments and develop projects in your community. This service is currently available at selected stores, and we will continue working so that you may soon hand in clothing you want to recycle at any of our stores worldwide.
03
The collected clothes will be donated, recycled and transformed into new fabrics, or they will be sold in order to finance the social projects developed by the non-profit organisations with whom we collaborate. The aim of this project is that, in addition to extending the useful life of your garments, we can have a positive impact on your community through collaboration with local organisations.

Q1
Do the items have to be from Massimo Dutti?
No they do not. You can donate any kind of clothing or fabrics you wish to recycle.
Q2
Can I donate clothes that are not in perfect condition?
Yes. The garments collected will be sorted before being reused or recycled. All garments which are 100% cotton, wool or polyester can be recycled into new fabrics. The rest of the garments will be converted into materials for the construction and automotive sectors. Garments that cannot be reused or recycled for reasons of hygiene, health and safety, or due to the quality of the materials, undergo a rigorous waste management procedure.
Q3
What is the role of Massimo Dutti?
Massimo Dutti will be in charge of collecting and delivering the donated clothing to sorting centres, where each item of clothing will be separated and classified according to its most suitable use. in doing so, we are placing our full network of stores and our logistical capacity at your service so that the garments you no longer wear can be given a new lease of life.
Q4
Does Massimo Dutti gain financially from this initative?
No. This project is part of our model of investment in social and environmental programmes. The goal of the clothing collected is to develop the social projects of the non-profit organisations with which we collaborate.
Q5
Can I donate other products such as footwear?
Yes, you may include any kind of clothing, household linen, footwear, accessories and even jewellery.
Q6
What happens to the items once they are delivered?
Massimo Dutti will be in charge of collecting and delivering the garments to the sorting centres run by the organisations we work with, where they are classified to ensure that each item gets sent to the best possible destination. Depending on the capacities of each organisation, the garments may be:
- Donated to those in need
- Marketed through the charitable channels used by the non-profit organisations to finance their social projects.
- Reused and transformed into other textile products such as cloths.
- Recycled into new fibres and materials for the construction and automotive sectors (seat filling, cushions, etc.).
Garments that cannot be reused or recycled for reasons of hygiene, health and safety, or due to the quality of the materials, undergo a rigorous waste management procedure. The aim of all these processes is to provide direct social support or to finance social projects that are developed or run by the non-profit organisations we work with. Furthermore, in certain cases, such as spain, the initiative boosts the creation of jobs for people at risk of experiencing social exclusion.
Q7
Who are the organisations you work with?
We collaborate with well-established non-profit organisations that ensure the proper management and distribution of the clothing collected. Among them are Cáritas, the Red Cross, the China Environmental Protection Foundation, Le Relais and the Salvation Army, as well as other local organisations in the different countries where we operate.
Q8
Do customers receive something in exchange?
No. The aim of this initiative is to provide direct social support or to finance social projects that are developed and run by the non-profit organisations we work with.
Q9
How can we guarantee the donated garments reach destination?
Non-profit organisations have their own verification process to ensure these garments are sent to a destination with ethical values.
Each one of our garments goes through several processes before the product arrives at the store. In 2018, we performed over 12,000 social audits in order to ensure compliance with our code of conduct.
04
To guarantee that employees’ working conditions, product safety levels and the environment are respected throughout the entire production process, we use a system that allows us to know where and how all our garments were cut, dyed, washed and manufactured. We are also developing new tools that will allow us to innovate in these management systems and share information in real time.
05
In 2018, the inditex supply chain included 1,800 suppliers, in 43 countries and 7,235 factories. Over 57% of our production factories are located nearby, in spain, portugal, turkey and morocco. The rest of our products are made in over 40 countries and regions in the americas, asia, and the rest of the world. All of our suppliers and manufacturers must comply with the strict requirements set out in our code of conduct for suppliers and manufacturers, which has been the cornerstone of our commitment to sustainability since 2001. To ensure compliance with our social, environmental and health and safety standards, we carry out assessments, implement improvement plans and continually monitor suppliers and manufacturers.
