“In all the works, there is a common plot, really based on local narration and oral tradition. I like the spectator to have his own story to tell after seeing my work.”

Cristina Mejías
Cristina Mejías bases her work on family narratives and stories, challenging the strict, traditional methods of constructing a story through a linear narrative. Borrowing from theatre and film, the artist employs fundamental visual narrative techniques to reveal the fragility and subjectivity of storytelling. Grounded in layers of history and the stories that precede us, her pieces can always be seen as new, as she captures the whisper that sets the story in motion.
